Q & A

Are there any 2x direct mount road oriented chainrings that you think work particularly well with your all road eewings? Greville asked on March 23, 2024

Hello, our 2x direct mount spider will allow you to use 5 Bolt 110 BCD chainrings, we currently do not have a recommendation for a direct mount 2x chainring set up.

can i use the eewings with shimano 105 chainrings 2x 12 spd? Nestor asked on March 22, 2024

Hello, our eeWing cranksets work with 3 Bolt Direct Mount chainrings or spiders.

How can I run the eeWings All Road cranks with Shimano GRX RX-820 components? Is there a SH12 chain compatible chainring in the wild that fits the Sram 3-Bolt pattern on the eeWings? Something in the 40, 42, 44, 46 tooth range? I'm having trouble finding one. Jordan asked on January 10, 2024

Garbaruk makes one! They are a high quality machinist, based in Poland. Reputable quality, decent pricing! https://www.garbaruk.com/gxp-road-cx-round.html?category=5

Will the eeWings fit onto a 1st-gen Cannondale Topstone? It has a rare BB30A83 bottom bracket (42mm Nominal Inside Diameter x 83mm wide). Alexander Aberer asked on December 22, 2023

They are compatible with that bottom bracket, but you will need some additional spindle spacers to take up some of the spindle width, since the narrowest bb shell width the All Road crank preloader can accomodate is 87mm. We sell the kit BAI0198. The kit will have the 4mm worth of spacers necessary. You may have to experiment with the exact placement of spacers to fine tune the chainline on that asymmetrical bb design.

Hello, it is compatible with a SRAM RED AXS power meter kit ? ( https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/pm-axs-kitr-d1 ) Thanks in advance. Mathieu asked on December 7, 2023

Unfortunately, no it is not. Our eeWings use the 3-bolt direct mount standard. On all of Sram's newest generation road product they use an 8 bolt interface to mount chainrings. SRM makes high quality, spider-based power meters that are compatible with our cranks! They are our number 1 recommendation!

Ben Rea answered on December 11, 2023 store manager

Thank you for your response. On the SRM website, I couldn't find any crankset without cranks that I can purchase to add the Eewings cranks to.

Furthermore, if I buy an SRM ROAD PM9 and change the cranks myself, will there be any power calculation issues? Should SRM handle the replacement?

The only reference I found related to Eewings is an SRM sensor for MTB (not road), and I'm not sure if I buy that one, whether I'll be able to add road chainrings to it.

Mathieu Woroniecki answered on December 12, 2023

SRM sells a road-specific spider only, for use with eeWings here: https://onlineshop.srm.de/usa/shop/powermeter/road/sram-praxis-works-road/ You have to select PM9 and then select eeWings under "configuration" This is the spider only and would match up with your cranks. You'll then have to source chainrings accordingly. For more questions, please reach out to andyb@canecreek.com, our support rep with the most experience dealing with SRM power meters.

Big fan of the crank. Very nicely machined and finished. Functions well with Chris king BB. Played around with the spacers to get clearance and chainline acceptable on Moots Routt RSL gravel bike. No complaints.

I didn’t find out until after purchasing that Cane Creek outsources production to Taiwan. I didn’t know this prior and may not have bought it if I did. American/european manufacturing matters to me.

Beautiful craftsmanship. If you put anything else on your titanium frame, you're doing it wrong.

These cranks are the real deal! Those in the Know choice cane Creek for good reason. This is my third set of eewings. Not that have wore out, but because I was so impressed I have them on. three bikes and counting! Down county, singlespeed, all-road.
Because I have some self respect, I ride on eewings! Skip the plastic junk that wears out and looks like hell. These will last and last. Worth the price when you’re not looking to replace.
