Deer Creek 1998 Calendar

Deer Creek, like most morris teams, tends to have fewer performances in the winter. The darker months find us practicing our form and looking forward to the new season. Spring is coming, though, and our dance card is starting to take shape. Check out where we'll be, and do come see us!

Feb 8 (Sunday) - Downtown Palo Alto, 1:30 - 3:30

In the great tradition of Morris dancing, we find enjoyment in springing up in some unexpected place and terrorizing everyone around with incredible, bell-jingling capers! We're planning some jumping and clashing for this day somewhere around downtown Palo Alto. So, beware!

 

April 10-12 - Roll out the Bear Ale in Berkeley

An Ale is a chance for morris dancing teams from all over to get together for reveling, imbibing, dancing, laughing, playing music and generally enjoying each other's company. Teams on the west coast of the US take turns each year hosting such a gathering. This year our friends with Berkeley Morris are extending the invitation.

 

May 1 (Thursday) - May Day sunrise dance! 5am-7am

It's not so much that we believe the sun won't come up on Mayday without some dancing, it's just that if we didn't dance, and the sun didn't come up, we'd feel really bad.

We'll be dancing with Mayfield Morris & Sword and Fool's Choice Morris at the Palo Alto Baylands park. In Palo Alto, take the Embarcadero towards the bay. Turn left when it ends (at the airport). Keep going until you see the parking lot with lots of cars. Yes, that's right, you won't be the only one up before the dawn! Dancing starts at 5:30.

If you haven't been out to see the sunrise celebration, give it a try. It's very beautiful, and while the sleepiness lasts only as long as it takes you to get there, the happy glow lasts all day!

 

Sunday, May 31 - Whitsunday tour with Seabright Morris in Santa Cruz 1:30 - 5:00

Come enjoy Morris dancing by the sea in beautiful Santa Cruz! We'll be at the Lighthouse at 1:30, and then more dancing in downtown on Pacific Avenue.

 

Tuesday, June 16 - British Banker's Club in Menlo Park - Early Evening

All this dancing makes a Morris man thirsty! Come enjoy a few glasses and some fun dances with us at the BBC. It's next to Cafe Borone and Kepler's Books on El Camino in Menlo Park. We'll start dancing a little after you get off work, so treat yourself and drop by!

Come have your favorite drink and enjoy an evening of Morris dancing! Cafe Boronne is in Menlo Park, on El Camino Real, between Kepler's Books and the British Bankers Club. We'll be dancing between 8:00 and 9:00. Come join us!

 

September 1, 8, 15 - Open Practice

We are actively looking for new members. If you have seen us dance, and it looked really cool, come and join us for an open practice session. We'll show you some steps, and you can tell your envious friends that you now know how to dance Morris!

Our practice hall is in the Carriage House at Holbrook-Palmer park in Atherton. The entrance to the park is just off Watkins Avenue., near the intersection of Marsh and Middlefield roads. Contact any of us to get more detailed directions or more information.

  

September 26, 27 - Los Angeles

Our friends with Sunset Morris have invited us down south to dance with them. Come fly down with us! No, seriously! The fellows with Sunset Morris are spectacular dancers, and there will be much fun. Tell your friends down south!
